The purpose of this course is to introduce the main curriculum theories and principles of curriculum design. The content is based on different UNESCO IBE case studies of curriculum development, assessment and implementation in different countries of the world and offers a global perspective on curriculum development.

The purpose of this course is to introduce the main curriculum theories and principles of curriculum design. It is anticipated that students will be able to define predominating concepts of teaching programming, describe teaching “closeness and openness”, identify stages of designing vocational education programmes. Course content consists of: sectorial analysis, research on vocations and qualifications; methodology of teaching goals, methods of their operationalization; evaluation of goal achievement; evaluation of vocational curriculum; standards and standardization of vocational education and training; standards and teaching programmes; implementation of new teaching programme.
The grade of the course is accumulated through 11 different individual and group assignments that are graded from 5% to 20% each to form the 100% of the final mark.
Final written exam will be organised.
The course will ensure the active engagement of learners at all stages of the course by encouraging their participation in discussions, raising their awareness of the innovations in teaching and learning processes and reconsiderations of international approach in the development of course programme. Learners will receive all the necessary learning material and at the same time be encouraged to search for new information, improve their critical and analytical thinking and construct personal understanding of the topic. Tasks cover individual and group works where learners will have to collaborate and develop their learning networks.

All the learning material will be uploaded on the virtual learning platform Moodle. The course consists of face-to-face classes. Virtual conferences will be arranged for consultation.
